Progress with Legals

So I finally met with a lawyer in Sydney that can help me with the project. Anne from ProLegis was a great help and they certainly have the knowledge and ability to provide advice about charity law and already highlighted the best structure for the business and how it should operate.

I feel much more comfortable with this group and Anne in particular. After our first 90 minute consultation, we got to some real nitty gritty discussion points. My main objective for the meeting was to make sure that the business idea was viable and that there is merit in going further.

Some other interesting things that came out of the meeting was that Anne made me rethink one of the revenue streams. I originally had a subscription piece in there as I though it was a good idea, but on second thought, it actually makes the whole thing rather complicated for the users, so I am now going back to re-assess that.

What does that mean? Well, I have to rework my business model to make sure that there are not going to be cashflow issues, but at this stage, I think that should be fine. I also need to rework my strategy document too.

So the next steps for me is to summarise the points of the meeting and determine what I am going to expect (and need to do) from a legal perspective. As well as reworking the documentation I mentioned above. But the main point is that now I feel that we are full steam ahead, the issues that I thought I might of had with the business model actually have some viable workarounds, and there are no gaping holes.

Time to start building the product and get the legals to start doing their bit in about 4 weeks.
